Trastevere was urbanized in at the end of the Republican period. Back then it was full of warehouses; under emperor Augustus, Trastevere became Rome's fourteenth "Regio" (quarter). It is now a typical roman district, with its small intertwined and colorful streets. Among Trastevere's renowned monuments are the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere, in which we can find mosaics by Pietro Cavallini and Jacopo Turriti (two artists of the XVIIIth century) and the church of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere built above ancient roman structures and dedicated to Saint Cecilia, protector of musicians, in which there are works by painters such as Paul Brill and Pinturicchio (on Tuesday and Thursday mornings we can visit the convent's dining hall with frescoes painted by Pietro Cavallini). We will also see the church of San Francesco a Ripa, where we will admire Bernini's statue of "Blessed Ludovica Albertoni". Our visit also includes the Tiber Island and its roman bridges (Fabricius' Bridge and Cestius' Bridge), as well as the Jewish Ghetto, established by Pope Paul III in 1555, the Porticus Octaviae (emperor Augustus' sister), the Theater of Marcellus and the Temple of Apollo Sosianus.

The visit include : Trastevere, church of Santa Maria in Trastevere (Pietro Cavallini's mosaics), church of Santa Cecilia in Trastevere (paintings by Pinturicchio), Tiber Island and Fabricius' and Cestius' bridges, Jewish Ghetto, Theater of Marcellus, Temple of Apollo Sosianus.
