Francesco Borromini and Gian Lorenzo Bernini, two of the most important baroque architects, have marked this city with their works, giving a lasting contribution to its beauty. These two architects began working together under the watchful eye of Carlo Maderno. Together they worked on Palazzo Barberini and Palazzo of the Propaganda Fide, until Bernini, decidedly the more competitive and more ambitious of the two, gained the upper hand. Though less gifted as an architect than Francesco Borromini, Bernini was predominant in the Roman scene and left his traces all over the city. Our visit will start at Palazzo Barberini (outside, we will then pass through the intersection of the Quattro Fontane (a beautiful ensemble built in the XIVth century), stoppping at the church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane, built by Francesco Borromini. We will also visit Bernini's church of Sant'Andrea al Quirinale and the Palazzo Quirinale, on which Bernini worked. We will continue on to the church of Sant'Andrea delle Fratte, with works by both Bernini (the angels) and Borromini (the bell tower). Our visit will end in front of the Palazzo della Propaganda Fide, on which Bernini and Borromini worked together.

The visit include : Piazza Barberini, the exterior of Palazzo Barberini, San Carlo allle Quattro Fontane, Sant'Andrea al Quirinale, Sant'Andrea delle Fratte and the exterior of the Palazzo della Propaganda Fide.
